Fertility testing for lesbians allows women to take the first step towards motherhood
The Fertility Center of Las Vegas team knows that everyone has a different path to parenthood. Our goal is to support all hopeful parents, regardless of what their path looks like. We provide an Oasis of Hope to members of the LGBTQ community by offering comprehensive fertility testing and treatment. For same-sex female couples and many single women, this includes fertility testing for lesbians.
What does fertility testing for lesbians involve?
You can expect to go through the same types of female fertility testing that we provide to straight women. You will also give your medical and family history to one of our Las Vegas fertility specialists. This includes information about your health, menstrual cycle, and past pregnancies or pregnancy attempts. If you have a partner, you’ll also talk about how each of you would like to be involved in the family-building process.
After having this discussion, your doctor will perform a physical exam and then order fertility testing for lesbians. Most women will undergo the following diagnostic tests.
Bloodwork can assess your levels of certain reproductive hormones, including anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). The results can provide vital information about your ovarian reserve, or egg supply.
Transvaginal ultrasound is a way for your doctor to view your ovaries and uterus. It can help your physician count your ovarian follicles, which contain eggs. In addition, it can help identify issues like ovarian cysts as well as uterine fibroids and polyps.
Once you have completed all the required testing, your doctor will review the results with you. Together, you can decide on the best family-building plan for you.
Why is testing so important when building a family?
We recommend female fertility testing to all patients so that we can accurately identify any fertility issues. This helps our Las Vegas fertility specialists develop a customized fertility treatment plan to overcome any barriers on the path to parenthood. Without testing, you could end up pursuing treatments that are not effective, wasting time and money.
The FCLV team proudly supports LGBTQ patients and would love to help you start or grow your family. Take the first step and contact us to learn more about fertility testing for lesbians.
