Discover the options for family-building for same-sex female couples
With a focus on openness and inclusivity, our Las Vegas LGBTQ fertility center team proudly supports patients who are seeking family-building for same-sex female couples. There are several lesbian fertility options that help make motherhood possible. Our caring doctors will help you understand each of these options. Your doctor will then help you select the best family-building option for your family.
From the initial fertility assessment to treatment using donor sperm, our team coordinates every aspect of lesbian fertility care. Together, we’ll help make your dream of starting or growing your family come true.
The first step is finding a sperm donor to make motherhood possible
For pregnancy to occur, sperm needs to fertilize an egg. That fertilized egg then needs to implant in the uterus and grow into a healthy baby. Because cis females cannot make sperm, family-building for same-sex female couples requires a sperm donor.
Some patients come to us with a known donor in mind, such as a friend or family member. In such cases, we provide resources for thorough screening and testing for your sperm donor. Our goal is to ensure safety and verify that there are no male fertility issues that could affect the success of your treatment.
If you prefer an anonymous sperm donor, our team can help you find resources for donor sperm. We will also coordinate shipment and storage of frozen sperm so that you can focus on the joy that a new baby will bring to your life.
Intrauterine insemination and in vitro fertilization are both lesbian fertility options
You are investing time and money to build your family. As such, our Las Vegas LGBTQ fertility experts will maximize your chances of success by performing a full fertility workup on you and your partner.
The results of your fertility workup as well as your family-building goals will help your doctor recommend the best treatment plan for you. There are three general types of family-building for same-sex female couples.
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI) with donor sperm is a form of artificial insemination. Your doctor will use a catheter (a thin, flexible tube) to insert the donor sperm into the uterus of you or your partner. This option is best if no fertility issues exist.
- In vitro fertilization (IVF) with donor sperm is a great option if you or your partner have female fertility issues. This treatment involves several steps, including medication, egg retrieval, laboratory fertilization and embryo transfer.
- Reciprocal IVF is a way for same-sex female couples to both share in the pregnancy. One of you will provide the egg for the pregnancy, while the other will carry the pregnancy and deliver the baby.
Our inclusive approach to fertility care makes our Las Vegas LGBTQ fertility clinic a destination for same-sex couples from all over the world. We look forward to meeting you and your partner to help make your dream of a family become a reality.
