The FCLV team is diving into some male infertility facts for Father’s Day

Sperm donation is a highly effective treatment option for many patients

The Fertility Center of Las Vegas (FCLV) proudly provides donor services to help our patients become parents. One of the most common third party options is sperm donation. Our Las Vegas fertility center can use sperm from a donor in treatments like IUI and IVF. The FCLV team can help you learn more if you are interested in this fertility treatment, or if you want to donate sperm.

Please note that FCLV does not accept sperm donors. If you are interested in donation, please contact California Cryobank.

How does sperm donation as a fertility treatment work?

The process to conceive using donor sperm begins with diagnostic testing. Our goal is to determine whether you’re facing any female fertility issues. The information we gain from fertility testing will also help you and your doctor decide whether you should pursue IUI or IVF with donor sperm.

After developing your customized treatment plan, we will need to select a sperm donor. Our Las Vegas fertility center doesn’t offer in-house donors. However, we can direct you to reputable sperm banks that have prescreened donors. You can also rely on someone you know to be your donor, assuming he passes the screening process.

Once you have selected your donor, the exciting next steps can begin.

  • If you’re planning to conceive using intrauterine insemination (IUI), your doctor will insert the washed and prepared donor sperm into your uterus.
  • In the case of in vitro fertilization (IVF), you will take fertility medications and undergo an egg retrieval. After fertilizing the eggs with the donor sperm, your doctor will transfer one resulting embryo to your uterus.

If you’re wondering whether sperm donation is right for you, know that donor sperm can help many types of patients welcome a baby.

  • Couples who have severe male factor infertility
  • Single women who are ready to conceive
  • Lesbian couples who want to have a child

Does FCLV work with men who want to donate sperm?

While we appreciate your interest, our Las Vegas fertility center is not a sperm bank. However, we do often work with one called California Cryobank. The experienced team can help you explore sperm donation and walk you through the process if you decide it’s right for you. When you donate sperm, you can make the dream of parenthood come true for someone.
