The Fertility Center of Las Vegas

Donor eggs for gay men help many patients achieve the dream of fatherhood

Everyone deserves the opportunity to share a biological connection with their children. That’s why The Fertility Center of Las Vegas (FCLV) supports members of the LGBTQ community on their journeys to start or grow their families. As a part of gay family building, our Las Vegas fertility clinic provides patients with access to donor eggs for gay men.

When used with gestational surrogacy and in vitro fertilization (IVF), donor eggs allow same-sex male couples and single men to have a biological child.

What is involved with using donor eggs for gay men?

While gay men can typically provide the sperm for a pregnancy, they will need someone else to provide the egg. At this point, an egg donor can help. This is a healthy young woman who has agreed to give some of her eggs to someone else so that they can use them to have a baby.

Some men ask a woman they know to provide donor eggs for gay men. In contrast, other men opt to use an anonymous donor from an egg donation agency or an egg bank like the one at our Las Vegas fertility clinic.

When using one of our anonymous donors, you will be able to see pictures of her at different ages. You can also learn about her personality, ethnicity, education, interests, health and hobbies. You will use this information to select the best egg donor for your family. Once you’ve selected your donor, you will receive the woman’s frozen donor eggs.

What are the other components of gay family building?

Finding donor eggs for gay men isn’t the only part of gay family building to consider. You’ll also need to select a gestational carrier and go through an IVF cycle.

A gestational carrier is a generous woman who agrees to carry and deliver your baby. There are many reputable surrogacy agencies around the United States that can help you find a qualified surrogate to help you become a father.

After you’ve selected your egg donor and surrogate, the IVF cycle can begin. An embryologist will use sperm from you or your partner (or both of you) to fertilize the donor eggs. The embryologist will monitor the fertilized eggs to see which ones grow into high-quality embryos. If you would like, you can have preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) done on your embryos.

Your doctor will transfer one of the healthy resulting embryos into your surrogate’s uterus. She will visit our Las Vegas fertility clinic for a pregnancy test about two weeks later. Then, hopefully, we will all celebrate the good news that you are expecting.
