We are the 2019 PCRS Private Practice Research Award winner

The Fertility Center of Las Vegas (FCLV) is world-renowned for our commitment to research. By studying the latest fertility treatments and techniques, our Las Vegas fertility center can improve fertility care for patients around the world. To honor our team for their dedication to research, the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society (PCRS) gave Carrie Bedient MD the 2019 Private Practice Research Award for research at FCLV.

What is the PCRS Private Practice Research Award?

During the PCRS conference, experts in the field of reproductive medicine present their research.

The Private Practice Research Award “recognizes outstanding research by a practicing physician.” This doctor must devote at least half of their time to private practice. Our Las Vegas fertility center feels honored to receive this prestigious award from PCRS.

According to Dr. Bedient, “The Fertility Center of Las Vegas works tirelessly to provide exceptional patient care and perform groundbreaking research that changes the field of reproductive medicine for all patients.”

Winning a research award in private practice can be especially challenging. “Private practice doctors have an extra hurdle when doing research because we don’t have the same time built into our schedule as those in academia do to work out all the details of a project. Fortunately, our practice can work through that with the support of all the doctors, our statistician, and the lab and clinic staff,” Dr. Bedient explains.

A look at the award-winning FCLV research

The project that won the PCRS Private Practice Research Award for Dr. Bedient and our Las Vegas fertility center focused on the correlation between the size of a follicle and the egg that emerged from it.

Conventional wisdom once said that eggs were no longer good if they got too big. However, the research at FCLV proves this is not true. This means that it is possible to extend stimulation time for IVF to get larger eggs and improved egg quality.

“We have been fortunate to have won several research awards for private practitioners in years past, and I am grateful that we won again for work that took a lot of dedication and effort to do,” says Dr. Bedient.
