Jaime Principe ensures our nursing department provides the best possible care
During your time at our Las Vegas fertility center, you’re almost guaranteed to receive support from Jaime Principe. As nursing department supervisor, she does everything from managing and organizing workflow in the nursing department to overseeing patient care.
Jaime received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1999 from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She was introduced to the field of infertility in 1997, during her labor and delivery semester of nursing school. During this time, she did clinicals at The Fertility Center of Las Vegas (FCLV) and was able to observe IVF cycles. This experience fascinated her and solidified her desire to work in this field.
According to Jaime, “Fertility is one of the most rewarding fields of medicine I’ve worked in. Being able to be part of hopeful parents’ journeys from the very beginning, starting with new patients going through diagnostic testing and treatment, and then to achieving the ultimate outcome of having a child, is truly special!”
The role of a nursing department supervisor
Jaime stays busy at our Las Vegas fertility center with her numerous responsibilities. These include her management of our nursing department and monitoring of employee productivity. In addition, she works closely with hopeful parents as she oversees their care in the operating room and recovery, addresses medical concerns, and provides pregnancy education.
“I also oversee OSHA and infection control, maintain AAAASF compliance for our surgical center, and address lab results and patient diagnostic tests,” Jaime explains.
One of Jaime’s favorite aspects of her role is her interactions with patients. “My time with patients gives me a chance to personalize their care and provide educational moments. I want to make sure patients know they’re never just a number. Infertility is a very emotional journey. Being empathetic, understanding and attentive to a patient’s needs is a must. A valuable lesson I learned in nursing school is to always put myself in the patient’s shoes, thinking of how I would want and deserve to be treated.”
A fulfilling personal life
Outside of work, Jaime has the satisfying role of caring for her three pugs – Rex, Ralphie and Alice. “They are my pride and joy,” Jaime says. “No matter my mood, they always make me smile and warm my heart with their unconditional love.”
Jaime is also an athlete, having played everything from softball and tennis to women’s pro tackle football in the Women’s Football Alliance for The Silver State Legacy Team. She also loves lifting weights and going to the gym with her coworkers. In addition, she appreciates time outdoors, having a passion for hiking, white water rafting and camping. But her interests don’t stop there.
“Traveling the world is one of my greatest passions, as experiencing different cultures is always a satisfying experience. My most recent trip was a safari in South Africa, but there are still so many countries I have yet to explore,” she says.
Jaime’s work at FCLV only adds to her enriching life. “The team at FCLV is like a big family. Every single employee is a vital piece of the puzzle that makes us successful. I’m proud to work with such a loving, caring, compassionate staff, and am blessed to be part of this organization. I can honestly say that I love what I do and the people I work with.”
