IVF costs don’t have to be confusing and mysterious
As if learning about the medical side of in vitro fertilization (IVF) didn’t feel hard enough, there’s a whole financial side to explore. There’s medications, clinic, laboratory and surgery center fees and IVF add-ons like genetic testing. The Fertility Center of Las Vegas team knows how overwhelming it can be to learn about all the components that factor into IVF costs. To help you wrap your head around it, we’re explaining what makes up the total cost.
We’re also explaining why our Las Vegas fertility clinic offers IVF package pricing and how it helps take the uncertainty and confusion out of paying for your in vitro fertilization cycle.
What items make up the typical IVF costs?
Before we start talking about IVF package pricing, it makes sense to cover everything that goes into an average in vitro fertilization cycle. Laying this groundwork can help you understand what IVF costs come into play and why they matter.
During an IVF cycle, your doctor and nurse will guide you through a series of steps that are designed to help you welcome a healthy baby.
The first step is ovarian stimulation to help your ovaries produce multiple eggs. This step requires you to take injectable fertility medications and attend monitoring appointments. These appointments help your doctor assess your response to the medications to determine whether you need more or less medication. They also help them determine when your eggs are mature.
Next, you’ll come to our Las Vegas fertility clinic for an egg retrieval procedure when your eggs are mature. You’ll receive light sedation to help keep you calm and comfortable while your doctor uses transvaginal aspiration to retrieve your eggs.
The next steps happen in the IVF laboratory. Fertilization using intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is standard. You can also opt for additional lab services like preimplantation genetic testing (PGT).
Finally, you’ll visit your doctor for an embryo transfer procedure using one of your resulting embryos. After your embryo transfer, you’ll wait two weeks before you have a pregnancy test at our clinic.
These different services come together to make up your total IVF costs. To make things easier, some fertility clinics offer IVF package pricing options. However, not all packages are created equal, so you’ll need to do your research as you explore IVF costs.
