Getting a diagnosis can help you say goodbye to infertility on Father’s Day
Few things are as difficult as experiencing infertility on Father’s Day, but there is hope. The Fertility Center of Las Vegas is home to doctors who are experts at diagnosing male infertility. The team at our Las Vegas fertility center also provides proven treatments and compassionate support to make fatherhood possible.
Diagnosing male infertility is the first step on the path to fatherhood
Many people don’t realize that male infertility is just as common as fertility issues in women. As a result, our doctors order fertility testing and take a medical history for both partners. For men, the testing process to put an end to infertility on Father’s Day will start with a semen analysis.
You’ll provide a semen sample by masturbating into a sterile collection container. If you cannot masturbate for religious or cultural reasons, our Las Vegas fertility center can provide you with a special collection condom.
Upon receiving your semen sample, the andrologists in our laboratory will perform a semen analysis to assess the quality and quantity of your semen and sperm.
- Sperm count (number of sperm)
- Semen volume (amount produced)
- Sperm morphology (shape)
- Sperm motility (movement)
- Presence of infection
Depending on your semen analysis results and medical history, your doctor may order additional forms of male fertility testing.
- Bloodwork to assess your hormone levels, such as follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and testosterone
- Vital staining to determine how many sperm in a sample are alive
- Antisperm antibody testing to determine whether antibodies are affecting sperm movement
- Sperm DNA testing to see how many sperm have broken or fragile DNA
These are just a few examples of tests that your doctor can use for diagnosing male infertility. However, not every man will need to undergo all these tests.
The right treatment can make infertility on Father’s Day a thing of the past
The doctors at our Las Vegas fertility center will use your test results and the findings of your partner’s fertility evaluation to create a customized treatment plan. Your doctor will then work with you to determine which treatment options will meet your needs, budget and family-building goals. With our support, you can be celebrating Father’s Day next year.
