What options do men and women have for fertility care for singles?
The first step is to determine what options are available to you. The team at our Las Vegas fertility center will start by asking you about your medical history and family-building goals. Your doctor will also order some diagnostic testing. Men will have a semen analysis, while women will undergo tests like bloodwork, a transvaginal ultrasound and testing of the fallopian tubes.
Once your doctor receives your test results, he or she can work with you to design a customized treatment plan for fertility care for singles.
Single men will need to rely on in vitro fertilization (IVF) as well as the third party reproduction options of egg donation and gestational surrogacy. Embryologists will fertilize eggs from your chosen donor with your sperm. Your doctor will then transfer an embryo into the uterus of your chosen gestational surrogate. She will then carry the pregnancy and deliver your baby.
Single women have a few more options. You can either pursue IVF with donor sperm or intrauterine insemination (IUI) with donor sperm. With IUI, your doctor will use a catheter to place sperm from your chosen donor into your uterus. With IVF, you will take injectable fertility medications and undergo an egg retrieval procedure. Embryologists will fertilize your eggs with sperm from your donor, and your doctor will transfer a resulting embryo into your uterus.
