Marie Penn demystifies insurance coverage as a benefits coordinator at FCLV
Many fertility patients find that navigating insurance coverage is almost as difficult as learning another language. However, hopeful parents who visit The Fertility Center of Las Vegas don’t have that problem. Instead, they have a friendly and helpful guide named Marie Penn. As a benefits coordinator at our Las Vegas fertility practice, Marie does everything from verifying infertility coverage to explaining each patient’s benefits quote.
Marie understands how overwhelming the world of insurance coverage can be. That’s why she works with insurers to get the information patients need to feel empowered on their family-building journeys.
“The best part of my job is speaking to patients regarding their benefits coverage,” Marie says. “It is a privilege to help patients access the incredible services that help them become parents.”
Patients can rely on Marie’s two decades of experience in the healthcare space
Marie Penn has worked in healthcare for more than 20 years, and at FCLV since 2021. As a result, she’s very comfortable with helping patients navigate the financial side of this space.
On an average day at our Las Vegas fertility practice, Marie works directly with insurance companies to identify and verify infertility coverage. As part of her work as a benefits coordinator, she confirms if a patient needs any referrals or authorizations before beginning treatment. If referrals are necessary, Marie can direct patients to referring physicians.
Her work also includes calculating contractual rates and reimbursements to prepare financial benefits quotes for patients. Once she completes a quote, she reviews it in detail with the patient and answers any questions.
“I enjoy working with patients to answer their questions about their insurance coverage and what they will need to pay,” Marie explains. “It’s always rewarding to let patients know any discounts they might be eligible for. The look of relief on their faces is priceless.”
Marie Penn keeps busy with hobbies and family outside of work
This San Diego native has lived in Las Vegas since 2018. When she’s not assisting patients at our Las Vegas fertility practice as a benefits coordinator, Marie enjoys going to the gym, listening to music and reading. As passionate as she is about these hobbies, family is the most important thing in her life.
“When I am not working, the most important role in my life is being the mother of three beautiful and amazing people, Brittney, Ash Le’ and Avery (aka Boomer). As an extraordinary bonus, I’m the grandmother of eight beautiful souls: Rylee, Braxton, Amaiya, Al-Mira, Feliciano, Xander, Zaiden and Xylus,” Marie says. “They are all truly the loves of my life and inspire me to help the FCLV patients start and grow their families.”
