Women and men using in vitro fertilization (IVF) or third party services at our Las Vegas fertility center appreciate the professionalism and high-quality care that Venessa Peterson brings to these departments. As the IVF department supervisor, she oversees each step of our hopeful parents’ IVF cycles and communicates with egg donor and surrogacy agencies. Her skills as a registered nurse give her an in-depth understanding of each phase of IVF and the intricacies of third party reproduction.

The journey to nursing for Venessa Peterson

Venessa Peterson, our IVF department supervisor and a registered nurse, helps keep treatment cycles on trackAfter graduating high school, Venessa majored in journalism and received her Associate Degree in Communications. She then directed her focus to motherhood until her daughter and two sons were in school, and she could once again pursue her education. Nursing was her new interest, so she enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

“I initially wanted to go into pediatrics, but during my first clinical shift in labor and delivery as a student nurse, I watched the delivery of three babies and was completely hooked,” she says. She graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Cum Laude.

After graduation Venessa worked in the postpartum ward of a Las Vegas hospital, before transferring to the newborn nursery, and finally labor and delivery. Her path led to our Las Vegas fertility center in 2019 when she was hired as our IVF Department Supervisor.

An appreciation for hopeful parents and our FCLV family

Because Venessa spends a significant amount of time with hopeful parents, she can develop meaningful connections with them. She doesn’t view them as patients, but as individuals she has the honor of supporting on the amazing journey to parenthood. Deepening this connection is her personal experience with fertility challenges.

“My first child was stillborn, and it took my husband and I several years to have our daughter. I understand the heartache that comes when all your friends are having babies, and you are not. It’s amazing that advances in technology have made building a family a possibility for those that thought it would never happen to them.”

 A rich home life

Venessa has been married to her husband Scott for more than 25 years and has three children and a dog. She is very active in her church and serves as the president of the children’s group in her congregation.

“Now that our children are young adults, Scott and I are enjoying nearly empty-nest-hood. We regularly go hiking and love seeing our Vegas Golden Knights play hockey.”
