Father’s Day can be difficult if you’re facing infertility and want nothing more than to be a dad. The Fertility Center of Las Vegas (FCLV) is here to provide information and support to all the hopeful fathers out there. Whether you’re just starting your journey, or you’ve been on the path to fatherhood for years, our Las Vegas fertility center wants you to know you’re not alone. We also want to share some male infertility facts to help you feel educated and empowered.

A look at some male infertility facts

There are many myths about male fertility issues, and our Las Vegas fertility center is here to separate male infertility facts from fiction.

  • Fiction: Infertility is just a female problem. Many people think that only women face infertility, but it’s equally common in men. In fact, one third of infertility cases involve a male factor and another third involve both male and female infertility.
  • Fact: There are many causes of male infertility. Fertility is complex, so there isn’t just one cause of male infertility. Some of the most common causes include a low sperm count, erectile dysfunction, blockages, varicoceles, infections, medications, and past injuries or surgeries.
  • Fiction: Men don’t have a biological clock. Although it’s not as pronounced as it is in women, men do experience an age-related decline in fertility. After the age of 40, men tend to have more fertility issues.
  • Fact: You shouldn’t spend too much time in the hot tub. Frequently exposing your testicles to excessive heat can affect your sperm. Using steroids, smoking cigarettes and heavy drinking can too.

These are just a few male infertility facts, but it’s not an exhaustive list. If you have other questions, our Las Vegas fertility center team can answer them.
