Originally from Colombia, Dr. Aguirre earned her BS degree in Biology from the Universidad De Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia and her MS and PhD degrees in Reproductive Physiology with emphasis in Cryobiology from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Aguirre is certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis in Embryology, Andrology as a High Complexity Laboratory Director and as a Clinical Consultant. Dr. Aguirre is a member of the American Association of Reproductive Medicine, American Board of Bioanalysis and the American Association of Blood Banks. She has served as an inspector for the College of American Pathologists since 2006.

Dr. Aguirre has performed several clinical research studies that have led to new developments in human reproduction. She has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in the journals Cryobiology, Theriogenology, Fertility and Sterility, and others. These publications include recent randomized trials comparing fresh and frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles.
Dr. Aguirre began her career as an international bovine embryology consultant to various Asian and Latin American countries. Dr. Aguirre’s first role as a Laboratory Director was at IVF Australia in Port Chester, New York. In 1990, she set up the IVF laboratory for the San Francisco Center for Reproductive Medicine and served as Laboratory Director. In 2002, Dr. Aguirre joined the Fertility Center of Las Vegas, where she serves as laboratory Manager and Co-Director. She also established and serves as the Laboratory Director of Cord Blood Cryosource, where stem cells from the umbilical cord are processed, cryopreserved and kept in long term storage. In addition, Dr. Aguirre established and is the Laboratory Director of GeneXgenetics II, a laboratory specializing in prenatal genetic analysis.
At The Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Aguirre oversees operations of all laboratories including Embryology, Andrology, Clinical, Cord Blood Bank, and Genetics laboratories. She also keeps all laboratories in compliance with state and national regulatory agencies maintaining licenses and accreditations current by the State of Nevada, CLIA, CAP, Tissue Banks and FDA.
