Dealing with infertility can be a stressful time. When you frequent the fertility clinic to consult with your infertility doctor, you may have a lot of worries related to starting your family. Stress is never good for a person to hold onto. Not only does it ruin your mood, but it can also affect your overall health. During your breaks between fertility treatments, try some of these methods to relieve infertility stress in your life.

Express Your Feelings

It is never healthy to keep your emotions bottled. This may have damaging effects on your health, and maybe even your relationships with loved ones. During this stressful time, determine a method that best allows you to express your feelings in a healthy way. Some people prefer confiding in their support system, who may be a significant other or a close family member or friend. Others prefer to write their feelings down in a private journal. During fertility treatments, try to ground yourself in the present, be mindful of how you feel and find peace when you let those feelings out.

Relaxation techniques can also be helpful to avoid worrying too much. Try breathing exercises to keep you in the present. Take deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. Count while you breathe to keep your mind from wandering. Many people take this relaxation breathing a step further by practicing meditation. There are tons of videos online to guide you through it.

Also, treating yourself to a spa day or taking a warm bath at home can ease your stress and help you relax. Your infertility doctor wants your journey with fertility treatments to be as stress-free as possible. Take time for yourself to relax.

Be Active

Fertility specialists say exercise can help to relieve infertility stress, too. Depending on your ability level and desire for a challenge, you can choose various activities like yoga or jogging. If exercise is not necessarily your thing, take up a hobby that makes you happy, like knitting or painting. Keeping busy with activities like these can do a good job to keep you distracted from worry.
