For more than 30 years, The Fertility Center of Las Vegas has helped men, women and couples to preserve their fertility by freezing their sperm, eggs, or embryos for future use.
Although ovaries can decline at any time, even in our 20s, the average woman begins to experience decline starting around age 33 to 35. By their early 40s, most women’s ovaries have declined greatly. Egg freezing at fertility clinics is an important option for these women to preserve their fertility. Our reproductive fertility center is here for you every step of the way.
Fertility preservation refers to the medical process that is employed to collect reproductive cells known as gametes (eggs and sperm) or embryos in order to preserve the level of fertility of an individual person (or couple) at the time the gametes are collected. Gametes and embryos are maintained in liquid nitrogen at very low temperatures, which halts the cellular processes.
Fertility preservation is an important option for men or women expecting to undergo treatments that might harm their fertility, such as those anticipating chemotherapy or cancer treatment. It can also be important if you are a woman who’d like to freeze your eggs to use at a later date. If you are concerned about the cost of fertility preservation, see if you qualify for a discount program.
How does freezing my eggs work?
Egg freezing involves stimulating the ovaries to produce ovarian follicles that contain individual eggs, then harvesting eggs and cryopreserving them. Multiple egg retrievals may be employed to obtain a large set of frozen eggs, which increases the chance of later success. Frozen eggs may be safely stored for many years without any known harm.
At a later date, the eggs can be thawed, fertilized with sperm from a male partner or donor sperm and transferred to the uterus to obtain a pregnancy.
Couples who wish to preserve fertility, but are not ready to have children, may choose to freeze eggs or embryos. Women and men who are preparing to undergo cancer treatments that might harm their ability to reproduce also often utilize egg, sperm, or embryo freezing to preserve their fertility.
