Conceiving with frozen eggs is the ultimate goal of egg freezing

When it comes to egg freezing, most women think about the steps leading up to it. However, this process involves more than medications and vitrification. It also involves the final step of conceiving with frozen eggs. When you meet with our Las Vegas egg freezing specialists, they’ll help you learn more about every step of the egg freezing process. This includes the final steps that will lead you to a positive pregnancy test.

The first few steps of egg freezing involve taking ovulation induction medications, having an outpatient egg retrieval procedure and freezing the eggs. Once the eggs are frozen, they will go into storage until you’re ready to use them.

When you’re ready to have a baby using your frozen eggs, our Las Vegas egg freezing doctors will guide you through the final steps.

  • Embryologists will move your eggs out of frozen storage and then thaw them. They thaw the eggs by placing them in a warming solution.
  • The embryologists will then fertilize each thawed egg with sperm from your partner or your sperm donor. They will do this using intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
  • The fertilized eggs will grow and develop into embryos over several days. You can have preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) done on your embryos before the final step.
  • For the final step, your doctor will transfer one of the embryos into your uterus or the uterus of your gestational carrier.

After this final step of conceiving with frozen eggs, you’ll return to our clinic about two weeks later. During this visit, you’ll have a pregnancy test and we’ll hopefully celebrate your good news.

Egg freezing success depends on your age and egg quality

Female fertility declines over time, so your age when you freeze your eggs will help dictate your success rates. Typically, our Las Vegas egg freezing specialists recommend that women freeze their eggs in their 20s and early-30s.

However, some women may be able to freeze high-quality eggs when they are a bit older than this. For this reason, our doctors will order fertility testing to find out more about your egg quality and egg supply. Your results will help you and your doctor determine whether egg freezing is right for you.
